1Introduction and who we are

This website, rocksteadycrew.life, is operated by Rock Steady Crew, LLC (“we”, “us”), a limited liability company in the United States. Contact us at info@rocksteadycrew.life for our postal address. We are the data controller for personal data collected through this site.

2Data we collect and how we collect it

Voluntarily provided. Your email address and, if you choose to give it, your name, when you sign up for updates, RSVP to an event, or contact us.

Mobile number, if you opt in to text messages, along with a record of your consent (date, time, and sign-up source).

Automatically collected. IP address, approximate location derived from it, device and browser type, pages viewed, referring site, and clicks on outbound links, collected through cookies and similar technologies (see section 5).

We do not collect payment details. Purchases are completed on retailer websites.

3How we use your data

• To send you updates about the book, tour dates, and merchandise availability.
• To send text messages you’ve opted in to receive (see Section 17).
• To manage event RSVPs and respond to your messages.
• To analyze website traffic and measure how our links perform.
• To keep the site secure and prevent abuse.

4Lawful basis for processing

Where UK or EU data protection law applies, we rely on:

Consent — for marketing emails and text messages, and for third-party cookies set by the embedded Spotify player. You can withdraw consent at any time by unsubscribing, replying STOP to a text, or changing your cookie settings.

Legitimate interests — for improving our website, measuring traffic in aggregate from server logs, and keeping the site secure.

Performance of a contract — for managing an event RSVP you have requested.

5Cookies and analytics

We do not use cookie-based analytics. Traffic is measured from anonymised server logs provided by our host (GoDaddy cPanel statistics): pages requested, referring site, browser type, and country. This data is not linked to you. We ask for your consent before loading third-party content that sets cookies. You can change your choice at any time via Cookie settings.

6Who receives your data

We share personal data only with service providers acting on our instructions, and only as needed to run the site:

• Email and SMS service provider — Mailchimp (Intuit Inc.) — stores your email address, mobile number (if provided), consent records, and the tour stop you RSVP’d for, and sends our emails and texts.
• Hosting and content delivery — GoDaddy — serves the site, logs IP addresses for security, and produces the aggregate traffic statistics described in section 5.
• Spotify — if you allow it, the embedded player loads from Spotify, which may set cookies and log playback under its own privacy policy.
• Event RSVPs — collected through our email list (Mailchimp); no separate ticketing platform is used unless a venue’s own page is linked.

We may also disclose data where required by law, to protect our rights, or as part of a business transfer. We do not sell your personal data.

7International transfers

We are based in the United States and our service providers store data there. If you are in the UK, EU, or another region with data-transfer rules, your data is transferred under appropriate safeguards: the EU–US Data Privacy Framework and UK Extension where the provider is certified, or Standard Contractual Clauses / the UK International Data Transfer Addendum otherwise. Contact us for a copy of the relevant safeguard.

8Retailer links

Links to retailers on this site are plain links. We do not use affiliate links and receive no commission when you buy from a retailer. Retailers may set their own cookies once you are on their site.

Retailer websites are operated independently and governed by their own privacy policies. We are not responsible for their content, practices, or any transaction you complete there.

9Share features

The “Share the Story” buttons open your device’s share sheet or a third-party service (WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger, SMS, email). Anything you share is handled by that service under its own privacy policy. We do not receive the content of your messages or your contacts.

10Data retention

• Email list data: until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it. Unsubscribe records are kept so we do not email you again.
• SMS data: until you opt out. Opt-out records are kept so we don’t text you again.
• Event RSVP data: up to 12 months after the event.
• Aggregate traffic statistics: 12 months.
• Server logs: up to 90 days.

11Your privacy rights

Depending on where you live, including under the GDPR (EU/UK), the CCPA (California), and the APPI (Japan), you have the right to:

• Unsubscribe from our emails at any time, using the link in any message or by contacting us.
• Access the personal data we hold about you and receive a copy in a portable format.
• Correct inaccurate data, or ask us to delete it.
• Object to, or ask us to restrict, processing based on legitimate interests.
• Withdraw consent at any time, without affecting processing that already took place.
• Lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority — in the UK, the Information Commissioner’s Office; in the EU, your national data protection authority.

How to make a request. Email info@rocksteadycrew.life. We will confirm your identity by replying to the email address on record and respond within 30 days (45 days for California requests, extendable once where permitted). You may use an authorized agent; we will ask for proof of authorization.

We will not discriminate against you for exercising any of these rights.

12California residents

In the preceding 12 months we have collected these categories of personal information: identifiers (email, name, mobile number, IP address) and internet activity (pages viewed, link clicks, device and browser data), for the purposes in section 3, from you directly and from your device.

We do not sell personal information. Loading the Spotify player may be considered “sharing” for cross-context behavioral advertising under the CCPA. To opt out, use Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information, or enable Global Privacy Control in your browser, which we honor.

We do not knowingly sell or share personal information of consumers under 16.

13Automated decision-making and profiling

We do not use your data for automated decision-making or profiling that produces legal or similarly significant effects.

14Security

The site is served over HTTPS. Access to list and analytics data is limited to people who need it, protected by strong passwords and two-factor authentication. No system is perfectly secure; if a breach affects your data we will notify you and the relevant authority as the law requires.

15Children’s privacy

This site is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 13, or under the age of digital consent where you live (up to 16 in parts of the EU). If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, contact us and we will delete it.

16Changes to this notice

We may update this notice. Material changes will be flagged on the site or by email before they take effect. Prior versions are available on request.

17Text messages (SMS)

What we collect. If you opt in to Rock Steady For Life text messages (sent by Rock Steady Crew, LLC), we collect your mobile number and a record of your consent (date, time, and where you signed up).

How we use it. Only to send the messages you signed up for: promotional and marketing messages about the book, tour dates, event reminders, and merchandise, plus notifications and customer service messages about your subscription.

Who sends them. Messages are delivered by Mailchimp (Intuit Inc.), our service provider, acting on our instructions.

No sharing. No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Text messaging opt-in data and consent are excluded from all other sharing described in this notice and will not be shared with any third party, other than Mailchimp as needed to deliver our messages.

Frequency and costs. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.

Opting out. Reply STOP to any message to unsubscribe, or HELP for help. You can also email info@rocksteadycrew.life.
